Meet Amy Segui – Emergency Response and Education Expert

Amy Segui brings a wealth of experience in higher education and emergency response, dedicating her career to enhancing safety, security, and crisis management in educational and public service settings. Her journey began in colleges and universities, where she supported students and staff by developing and implementing emergency response protocols and strategies.
As a conduct adjudicator, Amy handled everything from behavioral concerns to major crimes, while also training students, faculty, and staff in essential emergency response skills—including fire safety, hazardous materials, and bloodborne pathogens. She played a pivotal role in health, safety, and security inspections, ensuring campus compliance and preparedness, and led the planning and execution of annual campus emergency simulations.
A life-changing fire in her hometown inspired Amy to transition into the fire service, where she quickly advanced from Firefighter to Fire Engineer, to Community Risk Reduction Specialist/Deputy Fire Marshal, and now serves as the Assistant Fire Marshal and Fire Investigator at the Petaluma Fire Department. In this role, she helps lead her team in strengthening community safety while also serving as the Coordinator of the regional Fire Investigation Task Force and an instructor for fire investigation courses across California through the California Conference of Arson Investigators.
Amy’s extensive experience in emergency response has equipped her with critical skills in crisis management, rapid decision-making, and effective communication under high-stress conditions.
